Work At Home Tips To Boost Your Holiday Income

Work at home holiday sales will soon by brimming for many home business owners with Christmas and the new year. What better time to end a busy prosperous year and start thinking about an even more prosperous one? That’s right! This is the ideal time to start thinking and planning ahead for all the exciting possibilities for holiday sales, the upcoming year, and the overall growth of your business.

What do you have planned to grow your business?

What can you do to boost your income for the holidays?

What are your plans for your customers?

What are your business goals for the coming year?

Yes, a lot of questions, and ones that are so easy to procrastinate until another day. Well, this is another day. These are things you currently need to carefully consider. Your success essentially depends on your future plans. So, what will you be doing for your business?

Below are some simple tips to think about

* Send out holiday greeting cards graced with your logo. I think it adds more of a personal touch if you add a handwritten message inside your card along with your signature instead of a typed one. Also, always include a business card inside the holiday greeting card.

* Send out a special holiday newsletter to your customer base. Include your best tips along with specific holiday sales. This is the time of year to show your customers you really care by offering generous discounts on special products and/or services.

* Have a holiday contest and offer real prizes to draw in targeted traffic. The contest could entail many things depending on what your business is about. I’ve seen many forum contests that have been successful and they range from various types . Another idea that works well is creative writing contests, these could involve articles, blog posts, poetry, and the like. Perhaps a fun trivia contest would be a hit with your audience.

* If you have products available online, offer free shipping for a limited time throughout the holiday season. This sale booster always gets the interest of online shoppers. Always include your business card along with the shipped product.

* If you own a website and offer advertising space, have a discount sale on a select few of your ad options. Everyone is looking for reasonable advertising around the holidays. Extend the sale into the new year as well. I have found people are looking for new target places to advertise in January.

* Include a freebie with your holiday sales. This could be a gift card, an ebook, or anything you can offer for free that benefits your business.

* If you’re involved with article marketing and are consistently writing for your business, incorporate your articles into an ebook. You can either sell the ebook or offer it as a freebie to your customers.

* Provide extra special customer service! This in itself is the most important aspect of your online presence. This should be practiced all year round. Good customer service is crucial to your business. If you don’t show your customers good service, then you may as well not have a business in the first place.

Here are some suggested business goal tips to consider for the new year

* Make your goals realistic. However, you should set goals that give you the initiative to surpass what you actually think you can easily achieve.

* Put your goals in writing and post them where you can easily see them daily.

* Join at least one new social network in the new year

* Make it a point to stay more in contact with your customers

* Try and incorporate more creativity into your marketing plans

For the new year, I will be spending more time in consistently adding more content to my website and blogs and more time on article marketing.

Work At Home Forums: Networker or Spammer?

By Tammy Embrich

1) No Flaming: Please be kind to other members and treat them with respect.

2) Advertising: Please keep all your ads in the proper forum.

3) Signatures: Please keep all signatures to 2 text links. No banners. Thanks!

4) Absolutely no spamming other members with PM’s about your advertisements.

5) You must introduce yourself before posting any ads in the ad section of the forum.

Does any of this sound familiar? It should if you’re accustomed to reading and following rules on a forum.

I’m surprised at just how many people come onto a business message board and instantly click themselves in the “post your opportunity” section, spam their ad, and then leave. What are those forum spammers proving to others by doing this? Where does this get them?

Part of being a respectable member of work at home forums is to consistently read the posting rules. Failure to do this can and most probably will jeopardize your forum account.

The above consequence doesn’t seem to matter to quite a few members. Reading the rules of any forum you join is the very first thing you must do BEFORE making your first post, and also your first step toward properly networking with others. It only takes a few short minutes of your time and will substantially benefit you and your business. Business forums are created for business networking, not for spamming.

What exactly is the meaning of “business networking?”

Business networking is building relationships with other business owners and sharing thoughts and ideas, and getting to know one another. It means rationally conversing with others, discussing marketing ideas and techniques, lending support, and consistently adding something of value to the community. Share ideas, ask questions, and consequently gain the trust of the members. And as a result, you will be viewed and looked upon as a competent business individual.

That type of reputation is what it truly takes to make or break the sales, not one who is there just to spam their ads.

Now you should be able to easily answer this question. When joining your next work at home forum, are you joining to spam or network?

Will Free Advertising Work For You?

By: Bryan D. Roberts

Yes, there really are ways to advertise on the internet for free. While you could pay hundreds or even thousands of dollars and have your small business appear on the front page of a major national company’s website, which receives millions of visitors each and every month, most advertisers can’t afford to do this, especially if they are just starting out. So, what alternatives are there, without actually paying any money for advertising?

Classifieds
Why are classifieds so important? Because many of the top classified sites have completely free memberships and are very popular destinations online. Craigslist is by far the most popular classified directory, and Craigslist ranks as the 50th most visited website in the world, out of all the millions of websites online, so you can’t go wrong. Don’t stop with Craigslist, you can find hundreds of smaller but more targeted classifieds that meet your business niche needs.

Forums
Have you ever had a question and searched the internet for an answer? You likely visited a forum where other people posed a question and people responded with their best answers. This can actually be a profitable way to make money. Most forums (and there are thousands of them out there), allow you to add a signature at the footer of your response to a question. In this signature is where the magic can occur because you can write anything you want. The more questions you respond to, the more your business name or advertisements will be put out there for people to read.

Blogs
Blogs are everywhere and everyone seems to have one these days. What most people don’t know, however is that you can easily monetize your blog through any number of ways. Firstly you can have a blog for the purpose of the latest news about your business like a newsletter. Secondly, a lot of bloggers attract a lot of viewers by merely writing good content. A lot of viewers can lead to a lot of loyal customers. Plus, you can place Google AdSense (a targeted advertisement that pays you, and you can find many other advertising companies that pay even more) on your blog, for free, many publishers have made a living simply by doing this.

Hubpages and Squidoo
There are now two new companies online that provide you with a set of tools to quickly produce mini-websites on their own domain. You can do almost anything with these sites. They fully endorse making mini-sites for advertising or almost anything. Search engines like Google simply love these companies too, so your sites can easily be found. The more mini-sites you design the better too.

I’m building a recession proof online business. Would you like to join me?

Forum Marketing Is A Complete Waste Of Time?

By Tammy Embrich

Forum marketing has some tough competition now that social marketing such as Facebook, Twitter, and MySpace (just to name a few) is on a steady rise on the social networks.

I see so many promising networking possibilities on Twitter as I log in each day as much as time will allow me to. I also see my friends and forum owners state that the other social media…Facebook and MySpace are quite effective as well.

So…what is this doing to forum marketing?

Message board posting has resulted in some amazing success in the past and continues to do so. But I have seen first hand that some of the forums have indeed experienced a slow decline in activity. I also have seen forum members that have actually made the statement that the social networks are slowly taking over.

I personally feel that forum networking will continue to be an effective way to market your business but…it will take some hard work and consistency. And it is true…as a forum owner myself and from personal experience, the social networks are proving to be some controversial competition these days.

However, networking on forums will certainly NOT be effective if the member participates in the following manner.

* Sign up on a forum and immediately start making posts without making an introduction post
* Spam the boards with ads and leave
* Spam the members with ads via private message
* Don’t participate in discussions and get to know the other members
* Continually answer numerous posts with just one word or two and not contribute any good-quality information. For example: Great post or I agree.
* Includes their website or affiliate links in their posts when not allowed to
* Ignore all community rules
* Make posts with foul language or posts with offensive content

I just don’t get how some people believe that the above examples will yield them sales or website traffic. In fact…doing these very things in most cases, will get their account deleted and banned. Do they not realize this?

I do believe in not putting all your eggs into just one basket…meaning don’t just use one form of advertising. Using the many promotion resources given to you and utilizing them properly will give you the desired results.

I was just reading on one of the forums and found this quote: “The forum market is pretty much over-saturated.” I know this topic will and can be controversial…people have distinct opinions and they are entitled to have them.

So what is your opinion? Do you think forum marketing is on it’s way out? Do you think it’s a waste of time?

You be the judge.

Five Tips to Build Your Direct Sales Business

By Audrey Okaneko

Quite often I’m asked if there is a “secret” to building a direct sales business. The answer is both yes and no. I say no because there is really no one secret. I say yes, because there are many things you can do on a regular basis to build your business. I’d like to share five things you can do that will help you in building your business.

1. Learn about the company and the products. When you speak to others about what you are selling or joining your team, you’ll sound much more professional if you know about the company and about the product line.

2. Take an interest in self-development. Direct sales is a relationship business. We improve our relationship skills when we begin working on self-development. I attend seminars, take classes and read books all devoted to helping me become a better person. Even those who teach the classes I attend will share that they continually take classes to learn more themselves.

3. Make a one year commitment to your business. It takes time to find customers, build a team and develop a base for your business. While I always hear and read the words “businesses aren’t built overnight”, the reality is many people don’t really believe these few words apply to them. Commit to one year in business. After one year you’ll have enough experience and knowledge to make a new decision if a new decision is necessary.

4. Set an example for your team. As you build a team, your team members will look to you for guidance, support and training. If your team sees you market on a regular basis, they too will market. If your team sees you attend trainings and other company functions, they too will realize the value in these events. If you communicate regularly with your team, they in turn will learn to communicate with their teams.

5. Return phone calls and emails just as quickly as possible. Understand that not every communication will result in a sale or new team member, however each communication will aid you in building your own brand and your own reputation. If you get a complaint, take care of it immediately. If you get a product question, get an answer just as quickly as you can. You want your reputation to be one of a person who responds in a timely manner.

As you can see, there is no magic answer on how to build your business. The answer is to take steps daily to build your business and to build your name and reputation.
