There are many effective promotion techniques that marketers use everyday that are comparatively easy…even for the not so savvy. Advertising is the lifeblood of your business. The Internet houses a vast array of free advertising tools that have proven to yield the best results time and time again.

Ready to get started advertising your work at home business? Below you will find some reliable advertising techniques for your use. These are ten of the most popular ones. Most of these are absolutely free…while a few will have minimal fees.

1. Post on free networking forums using a signature with your niche keywords.

For Example: If you have a work at home website, use work at home. Or, if you have a work at home mom website…use work at home moms.

2. Start a blog. Blogs are currenlty all the rage on the net these days. With a blog, you can either use a free blog such as blogger.com or a paid one such as wordpress.org.

With a paid blog, you will need a domain name and hosting. After you have your blog up and running, with a few good-quality posts…start blog rolling (link exchanging) with other bloggers. It would also be in your best interest to start commenting on blogs that share in a similiar niche.

3. Write articles that relate to your work at home business and submit them to article directories, message forums, and ezines. Make for sure to consistently attach your resource box along with a link to one or more of your businesses or websites at the end of all your written articles.

4. Participate in forum contests where the administrator offers free advertisement as the prize. There are many forum owners that offer these type of contests.

5. Watch out for website owners that offer big advertising discounts and specials. You can usually find these advertising specials on message boards, or the websites themselves. You can also do a search on Google.com for this.

6. Another good idea would be to offer to help moderate at various forums in exchange for an advertising deal from the forum owner. You may be surprised at how many forum and website owners that would make a deal with you.

7. Get listed in web directories. There are lots of website directories that are free to list your work at home business. You will find a few here and there that require fees for this. You will also find some that require a reciprocal link back.

8. Sign up for ezines and news letters. You will find a lot of these that you can list your business for free just for signing up. All it takes is a little bit of your time, but the rewards can be substantial.

9. Create some business cards and flyers for your business. This can be done with your computer and printer. All you would need is the software to create the cards and flyers and the paper they are printed on. Vista Print.com offers free business cards with a minimal fee for shipping and processing. They also offer free logo design. Or you can have them printed at Office Max or any business supply store that offers this type of service. The cost for this service varies.

10. Word Of Mouth: This is the best advertising technique there is…and best of all, it’s absolutely free. Conversing with friends and acquaintances about your business yields big rewards. Tell your fiends, and they will tell their freinds…and so on.

These are ten advertising methods that will not shrink your pocket book. Most of these will just require some of your time and they are quite effective…use them to your advantage.

Marketing Secret: Emotions are Contagious

No Comments »

By: Kamal

You may know a few vampires. You know - the people that seem to suck the energy out of a room when they walk in leaving everyone feeling depressed. You probably also know people who, “light up a room” when they walk in. You might describe someone you just met as “rubbing you the wrong way” if you found yourself irritated with them and you just didn’t know why.

As someone trying to market a small business, your #1 job is to make your customers and prospects feel good about doing business with you. Sure, you are going to use every marketing tool in your disposal, and you understand that people ALWAYS buy on emotion and then justify with logic.

Everybody who’s not insane enough to be locked away or has some other mental pathology is, to some degree, “role adaptive”. Observe how your own behavior changes when you are talking to a toddler, or when you are talking with your friends, or talking on the phone with a sales person. You will notice that your voice, body language, inflection, word choice, pace, all change. You take on different roles that are more or less appropriate for the situation.

Human beings, as a species, have survived so long by being social. Compared to large predators that might have eaten our ancestors - we don’t have sharp claws or fangs, can’t run fast, don’t climb well, and have poor night vision. The two things that we have going for us are living well in groups and making tools.

Think back to that person that rubbed you the wrong way. You may not be able to place what it was about them. We respond to very subtle and unconscious social clues like body language and tone of voice. We respond very efficiently and very quickly on an emotional level. What’s on the inside shows on the outside event when we aren’t consciously aware of it.

An experiment was conducted where women of varying relative attractiveness were sent to draw samples of blood from guys. The men didn’t know that the blood was tested for testosterone levels – to see how sexually ‘turned on’ the guys were.

Two major observations were made: 1. Guys get turned on by being in the presence of attractive women on a hormonal level.

2. The female researchers could accurately predict the guy’s testosterone levels just based on their body language and behavior. Keep in mind, the guys weren’t in a bar trying to pick women up – this was a clinical setting.

The lesson is: people are generally very good at sniffing out what you’re up to. We train from birth to know what people are feeling – anger, deceit, euphoria. We also know that generally people are more comfortable being around people they are like. People form clubs and interest groups or, in extreme cases, become bigots.

What’s the marketing lesson? You, and everybody who’s involved in your business, must be convinced to the depth of their being that you are going to deliver on your promises. You must be enthusiastic about what you sell, or you can’t expect your customers to be. You don’t want to totally mismatch a customer by being happy if they are angry, but you want to gradually move them to a happy place.

You must communicate intentionally. Do you yell at your employees and then send them out to serve your customers? Do you get angry with your customers? Do you show up sleepy and lethargic? Think of emotion like a virus, you can pass it to your employees, and they can pass it to your customers.

What would your business be like if your customers just emotionally lit up every time they saw you? If every time your customers deal with you they get a shot of happy, they are going to want to deal with you again. They are also more likely to refer more business to you.

Take a close look at how you and your employees come off to your customers. You may have to do some training to get out of bad habits – but it will pay off in bigger profits.

Marketing Your Business Offline

No Comments »

By: Tammy Embrich

Every marketer is searching for the most effective ways to promote their business online. But, how about offline promotion? The answer to that is really up to you. Remember…all your customers live in the physical world and can be reached more effectively from the physical world. With that being said, regarding promoting your business offline…you must start thinking creatively.

The following are just a few examples of various marketing techniques that can be used.

1. Create business cards. This can be done with business card paper which can be purchased at business supply stores. You can make these on your home computer. You will need to install card-maker software to do this. Or you can hire someone to make them for you. Try to make them unique…different than the normal business card.

Be creative, try and capture the attention of prospective customers with your choice of color and design.

2. Pass your cards out at dinner engagements, parties, libraries, schools, colleges, daycare centers,…basically any place where someone will allow this type of solicitation. Leave them in restrooms of theaters, restaurants, department stores, etc…Remember, think creatively and you will come up with tons of other places and ideas. Keep a fresh supply of your business cards in your car at all times. You never know when an opportunity will present itself.

3. Make up some flyers and posters to post on bulletin boards. Again your choice of color and design will be substantial at capturing the attention of prospective buyers. These flyers could be handed out locally and also posters could be displayed at various locations such as supermarkets, gas stations, malls, laundry mats, churches, social clubs and business centers.

4. Talk to your friends and people you come in contact with about your business. These friends and acquaintances will tell their friends and so on. This is called “word of mouth” advertising. “Word of mouth” is by far the most effective marketing technique you can use when promoting your business offline.

Be enthusiastic about your business while you’re talking…get excited about what you do. Your enthusiasm will most likely rub off…and result in sales and/or recruits.

5. Place bumper stickers on your car displaying your business. Include a phone number or a website link so that people can see it and contact you. You would be surprised at how many people look at these. Again, you can make them yourself or hire someone to do it. For this technique, your website URL and phone number should be fairly large so that it can be seen easily.

6. Hire someone to make ink pens and pencils with the name of your business on them. You can leave these at banks, churches, libraries, and various other places. When you start to hand these out…you will most likely think of a lot of other places to hand them out, or discretely leave them.

7. Check out cinema screen advertising at various theaters. Think of how many people will see your ad! The prices will vary. This is an excellent marketing method if pricing is within your budget.

8. Check out advertising in your local newspaper. Advertising in magazines is also another great option. There are many people that are newspaper and magazine junkies. If the pricing is within your budget…go for it!

9. Have t-shirts or hats made with a special logo of your business. Include a phone number or website link to your business. Other personal favorites could be mugs, calendars, mouse pads, refrigerator magnets and the like. And I bet if you think real hard, you could come up with a lot more.

Creativity is key when contemplating innovative offline marketing techniques. Offline promotion is really a trial and error type of thing. If something is not bringing in the sales…try something else. The ideas are essentially endless. Put your mind to it and try your hand at offline promotion…it could mean significant success for your business.

Tip: When using offline marketing techniques, it is better to use a short domain name so that it can be remembered easier.

How To Use Article Marketing To Benefit Your Business

No Comments »

By: Tammy Embrich

If you love to write, then you’re one step further to using article marketing to benefit you and your business. Pick a topic you need to learn more about or one that you are interested in. Do the required research, and make it into a resourceful article.

Write articles that relate to your business. Also, concentrate on topics that you know people will be searching for. Use specific keywords in your articles so the search engines will find them…thus, resulting in finding your business.

The following steps will guide you through the article marketing process…

1. Find ideas for your articles. This can be accomplished in a number of ways.

* Participate in business message forums

* Participate in chat rooms

* Join discussion groups

* Blog

* Subscribe to ezines

Ask questions, read, and learn. The result will lead you to some innovative article ideas.

You can also get ideas from actually reading other articles. You should never copy content from another person’s article…but rather, come up with an unusual twist or angle and make it your own.

2. When you have a topic for an article, give it a title and start writing it. If you are not an expert on the subject, you will need to do some research. Keep in mind WHY you are writing the article. You should be writing articles that are geared toward getting traffic to your website or business. Make them interesting and resourceful…making the reader WANT to visit your site.

3. Once you have written your article and have checked it for errors, you will need to start submitting it to various message forums and article directories. Try to choose directories with a high page rank. The ones with higher page ranks will have more importance with the search engines.

4. Always include your resource box at the end of your written article. This will include for example: your name and a link to your website or business. When people read your article you will have your link right there for them to click on and visit. Website owners are always searching for content for their websites. They often search in article directories. When they download your article, they also download your resource box. The more articles you write and submit to directories…the more links you will have directing people to your business.

5. When you start to submit your article to various article directories, you will want to alter your article so that you won’t be submitting duplicate content. A lot of directories will not accept your article for this reason. Some may even delete your account . A good idea is to re-write a paragraph or two of the content. You can also change the title of your article.

Articles are one of the most effective marketing tools on the Internet today. Use it and benefit from it. Don’t be afraid of it. Write about what you know, and keep writing, and success will follow.

Thoughts To Consider On Network Marketing

No Comments »

By: PCgasby

The hardest part of having a business in a network marketing program is to retain your downline. Many people think a network marketing program means huge incomes and little work, which is why the turnover rate in multi level marketing companies is higher than any other industry. While people have many reasons for walking away from a great business opportunity the most common reason for people is that something better comes along for them.

At least twice a year there is a new marketing network opportunity coming out and they all claim to be the best. Every new product that is introduced is made available on the internet and in order to get this product to the consumer distributors are needed. After potential distributors understand the way network marketing works they often lose their interest and move on to programs that claim to take less working time and give you more opportunities to get rich overnight.

Realistically there are no ways to get rich overnight while working on the internet. The odds are a few thousand to one that you will earn into the millions with in the first year and most of those that claim this success are the ‘self-proclaimed’ entrepreneurs. It is rather disappointing to see the odds that most people will be able to earn a stable living through a multi level marketing program, but those that are successful understand that working from home requires actually working hard.

Always take time to investigate the business offer even if the most recent email promises you the newest top product that is arriving on the market and that you need to act immediately in order to get in on the ground floor of the excellent opportunity. Many wonder why a hot product isn’t sold in retail outlets, but the truth is that it takes time in order to get shelf space at a retail store and a company can save money on lower distribution costs by selling through qualified distributors once the product has become successful through network marketing.

Don’t panic if you miss the deadline to get in on the ground floor of a business opportunity. The odds are that in another six months a new and more improved product will come out and you can get in on the ground floor of that product.

You have to believe in what you are selling in order to be successful with a network marketing system. If you personally use the product or service then it also pays dividends since you can offer first hand testimonials to your potential customers. After customers start to use the product then you can invite them to join the network, even if the only reason is to buy the product at wholesale next time they need it. Eventually the person may see the benefit of the network marketing opportunity and sell their own customers in turn on the idea of becoming a distributor while also building your downline sales.

It can work by simply buying into a network marketing downline for the purpose of making money, but the more interest your have in a product the more effort you will expend. If you believe in what you sell it will be a strong indicator to other distributors and will help you to work harder and contact more people so that you stay involved in both sales and recruiting.
