5 Creative Ways to Promote Your Affiliate Website

1. Get Obsessive with Local Marketing

Local advertising is not the most popular way to promote your affiliate programs, but yet it’s still a productive means of getting the word out. First of all, buy a short, memorable domain name related to the topic of your affiliate site. Use this domain name for local marketing on your vehicle, business cards, return address labels, with your handwritten signature, etc. Get a little creative and place it on wearable items too. Visit Zazzle.com and start creating your own apron, tshirts, bumper stickers, keychains, mousepads and more.

2. Use the Products and Services Wholeheartedly

If your spending alot of time promoting for one particular company that offers tangible products, get a few of the products to show off. Use the products and brag about what qualities that you like best. Many of us are natural sales people. We often buy products or use services from particular companies because a friend or relative made a wonderful recommendation. There are many companies that should pay my husband commission. And they probably would if they only knew how much he talks and brags about their products! By the way, your kids can get in on the action too. They make great little sales people. Their enthusiasm shines through and their honesty about their likes and dislikes is often admirable.

3. Write a Fictomercial

WordSpy.com defines Fictomercial as “a work of fiction in which a company pays the writer to incorporate the company’s products into the story.” It’s a new trend that’s gaining popularity. If you have a knack for writing fictional stories, you may want to try your hand at creating a few interesting stories to draw attention to your products or services that you’re promoting. The movie industry has already gained momentum on this sort of advertising. I can already think of numerous movies that have included some “dot com” promotions. Of course, the trick is going to be a matter of integrating your promotion delicately as possible without seeming like a big commercial interruption in the middle of your story. If you have a gift for writing, you might want to take a shot at optimizing this new trend.

4. Use that Answering Machine

These nice little inventions really don’t get used quite enough. “Please leave a message right after the beep” could really use some creativity and much improvement. Most of us seem to enjoy the funny messages we hear on message machines, in fact, we remember them for quite awhile and even chat to our friends about it. If you have a great sense of humor, why not come up with a really quirky message that will entertain and make a lasting impression…and sneak in a little free advertising too. Don’t forget to take advantage of your voicemail message, too. We pay enough for those cell phones, we might as well get some extra advertising out of them.

5. Donate Some Old Books

This is a promotion you may have not heard stated before. But, I like the idea, so I’m going to share it. Do you have some books that you need to get rid of? Take some book labels with your domain name and a short catchy quote written on them and stick them inside the covers. Donate these to your local thrift stores. Even if people do not buy a book, they often browse through them. I’ve often seen business cards stuck in books at the library, but book labels stuck inside used books might be there to stay for quite awhile.

People often like to buy used magazines at cheaper rates as well. Create or buy some address labels with just your business information on them and stick them over the address labels on your old magazines. Now, if you can just get them to your local donation center before they’re too old be news, they’ll be sure to find new homes!

As a final word, don’t try to reinvent the wheel. By all means, use popular marketing methods that have been tested and that statistically work best, but don’t be afraid to get a little creative and come up with some new ways to promote as well. It will certainly help you escape boredom and keep your mind sharp…and who knows, perhaps you will create a new advertising trend afterall.

Finding The Best Niche Affiliate Marketing Program

By: Allweb

The importance of niche affiliate marketing program options is huge, but you need to identify the niche first, and build a website to cover it right afterwards.

So how can I find a niche?

Keep your eyes open, read the newspapers, get newsletters. If you are always up to date with anything new that hits the market, with every medical or science discovery, you simply cannot miss finding a great niche. If you still are unsure on how to find a good niche, try this: sit in your favorite armchair and jot down 10 – 20 things that you have some interest in and that you think could be a niche. Then do your research – run searches in the search engines and see how those topics are covered. Let’s say you find a weird niche like “rabbit clothing” – is there sufficient interest in it? Also, even if you do get visitors on your site, will there be a niche affiliate marketing program that offers rabbit clothing? If your niche is too specific, try to develop a broader online portal, maybe about “pet clothing”, in which an important part would be dedicated to your initial niche.

Examples of niche affiliate marketing programs

Many “niche hunters” charge a lot of money to find and reveal niches to webmasters looking to develop a site on that particular topic. It’s also good to know that what’s considered a niche today, might be an overpopulated field a few months from now. One of the hottest niches today is that for mesothelioma cancer, with lawyers paying huge amounts of money to get leads from websites. Hoodia-gordoni is another niche, and plenty of niche affiliate marketing programs have developed recently so as to supply weight loss products related to this diet. Other niche affiliate marketing program offers may include unexploited topics from the medical world or recent technological innovations. Identifying a niche quickly and building up a good site to cover it is a fool-proof success to earning money online.

How to make the most out of free affiliate programs?

Having a good traffic flow on your website is the first and probably the most important step you have to take. Create and interesting website and optimize it for the search engines such as Google, Yahoo or MSN (see our Web Development and Search Engine Optimization guides for more info). Once the traffic is there, you have to create positive copy that also stays objective when presenting a certain service or product. If you are a webmaster and you have just joined a free affiliate program, try to present the benefits of the products your affiliates have, but don’t turn your site into a sales pitch. Your web page text is not meant to sell the advertiser’s products – it has to get the reader’s attention and place them in a “ready to buy” state of mind. The quality of the products or services offered by the company advertising on your website is also vital if you want to make more money online. Offer a high quality informative website with free affiliate program advertisements that promote good services and high quality products, and you are bound to increase your website profits.

By: Michal Conant

Each and every one of us has their own special interests or a hobby. We may love and have a large collection of books, music, and movies or we may be sports fanatic or enjoy traveling. We may also love gardening or having pets. Doing things we love to do, reduces stress and helps us to temporarily forget our every day problems and troubles, in some cases it may inspire us to find a solution to a problem. But not everyone has a hobby that makes money for him/her except if you love your job.

Earning money with a hobby you love to do could earn you an extra income, with practice and experience it could allow you to quit your day job. That is why many of us today go online to start a business; their reasons are either to supplement their income or to gradually replace their offline income from their job. A great way to start making money online is through affiliate marketing.

Affiliate marketing is sharing revenue between an online merchant and one or more affiliates. The affiliate refers new customers to the online merchant and is paid a commission for either the new referral or sales generated. There are several advantages to affiliate marketing, mainly you don‘t need to generate or stock an inventory of products, no need to create an online e-store, and you never have to worry about keeping a customer happy, the merchant takes care of it all.

Now, for sure you want to be an affiliate marketer with all the benefits an affiliate could get. But, do you have what it takes to be an affiliate marketer? To properly begin in affiliate marketing, you have to decide what area or areas you‘re interested in. What products do you know the most and which products you could do the best job of selling? Once you discover your specialty; perseverance, patience, and determination comes next. These qualities should be possessed in order to be a good affiliate marketer.

A lot of online affiliate marketers become impatient and fail. You have to know your strengths and weaknesses, what things are you good at and what are your abilities and capabilities related to your chosen niche. The most important thing is you have to have a strong desire and will to succeed in affiliate marketing.

To be an affiliate marketer is not an easy task. You have to learn the techniques of marketing your product or service. There are many marketers out there promoting their ways of marketing, one should be cautious in attempting to jump on each technique. To be a successful affiliate marketer, you should learn how to listen and to be taught because in life we need to learn skills to get by.

An affiliate marketer should know how to effectively market their product; an effective marketing technique will get thousands of visitors to view their product which equates to more sales. Creating and publishing your own website will create a bigger chance of making money online faster. Avoiding the same mistakes of other affiliates is advised; many are just in it for a quick buck and fail to build a long term business. It‘s important to understand that you‘re building a long term business. It is essential to focus on what will makes you several sales each day and not the few dollars you‘ll make in one sale.

It is also better to have knowledge on how to upsell your visitors for expensive services. This will distinguish you as an expert to the field which will allow you to sell more products and make more money. There are some people thinks that just by having affiliate links on their website will bring them good profits. It is true that some affiliates do make good money this way, but many still believe that it is more effective to use a strong marketing campaign in order to be successful. Affiliate marketers who treat their online visitors or customers as friends are more successful than those who don‘t. Establish a relationship with customers and especially with the visitors to your website. Building a good business relationship with customers will bring that customer back again and again.

You should also be creative. The real key to being successful with affiliate marketing is to develop a good content based website and weave your affiliate links into all your content. Providing your visitors with good, quality, and updated content will keep them coming back to your site. Affiliate marketing can be a long term profitable and successful business. Do you have what it takes to succeed?

3 Commonly Asked Questions about Affiliate Management

By: Alice Seba

People have all kinds of questions about starting their own affiliate program and it’s always a good idea to be prepared. Starting and managing your own affiliate program isn’t something that can be done on the fly. It takes carefully preparation and planning, but the results are well worth it. Here are 3 commonly asked questions:

Question 1: How much commission should I offer in my affiliate program?

How much you offer will depend on the amount you can afford, taking into consideration the lifetime value of a customer, what your competition is doing and how attractive you can make your offer.

As a general statement, information products usually have a higher commission rate - often between 25-50% with the higher end being more common. Consumer products with smaller profit margins can be as low as 5%, but don’t often go above 20%.

But what you charge should be based on your own unique business. Here are some more things to help you come to a decision:

Sometimes it’s okay to pay a bit more for a first-time customer who will buy from you over and over again.

Always see what your competition is offering. You don’t have to get into a commission war, just be sure to make your program very attractive through good conversion rates, unique and useful promotional tools and other attractive features.

Question 2: What kind of affiliate tools should I provide to my affiliates?

The simplest answer is: Give them what they want.

Talk to your affiliates and see what they need to serve their unique audience needs, and where possible, provide it to them.

For hard-hitting promotions, you can craft email copy, conduct live teleseminars with content and sales pitch, special reports, etc.

For the content-starved webmaster (and there are plenty out there), give them things like articles, free ebooks and other informational content.

The important thing is to listen to your affiliates and watch which tools convert best.

Question 3: Can I have an affiliate program with a service-based business?

Sure you can. If you have a profit margin or a lifetime customer value that allows you to pay commissions, certainly.

If you have services available that are at a set price, it’s easy to automate everything and run your program, just like a product-based one.

If you charge by the hour or have to give project estimates, it’s a little tougher to automate completely.

Here are a few options:

- Have a script that can track who referred your potential client to you. Ex. Affiliate recommends your service through a tracking link. Potential client clicks the link, checks out your website and fills out a form for more information. Your system tells you who referred the client and if they purchase your services, you can give the affiliate a commission.

- You could do it as a pay-per-lead opportunity where the affiliate is paid a smaller fee for every person that fills out the form for more information. This would be easy to automate in most affiliate systems that can handle pay-per-lead transactions.

- Don’t want to go with a full-blown affiliate program? You can institute a client referral program where you simply allow your clients to recommend your service, in return for credit for services. When a new client comes to you, you ask where they heard about you and you add a credit to your referring client’s account

An affiliate force is an incredibly powerful thing and when you consider you don’t have to pay affiliates anything until they produce results for you, it’s one of the best deals going in Internet marketing today. Plan your program well and you’ll soon have your own active force of affiliates bringing you new customers every day.

The Key To Writing Affiliate Marketing Articles

By: Russell Brunson

There are a lot of methods to driving targeted traffic to websites. One commonly overlooked method for getting free traffic to websites is writing affiliate marketing articles. Unfortunately, this is even more true for affiliate marketers who are trying to siphon traffic to their sites.

In this article, I am going to give you a brief outline for writing affiliate marketing articles. This will put you head and shoulders over your competition that will post affiliate marketing articles without caring about how they are written.

1. Don’t try to write the perfect affiliate marketing article. Frequently, when writing affiliate marketing articles, people tend to “overthink” the article writing process and think they are writing Shakespeare or are rivaling Stephen King. Thankfully, you don’t have to have a Masters degree in English to write excellent affiliate marketing articles. All you need to do is write in an interesting way that conveys the information.

2. Make sure your keywords are placed in the affiliate marketing article frequently. Ideally, when writing affiliate marketing articles, you’ll want to sprinkle your target keyword into the article. The ideal place for inserting your target keyword is the headline, the first paragraph of your article, and the last paragraph. Be careful not to “keyword stuff” your articles— the search engines can pick up on that really quickly and penalize you in short order.

3. Make sure you have a call to action in your affiliate marketing article. AT the end of the article, you want to have a call to action that refers them to a website for more information. Ideally, you want this to be the “money site” or the affiliate site where the person can buy the product.

4. Make your affiliate marketing article informative. You must make sure that your affiliate marketing article makes the reader feel good that they read it. They must learn something or feel like your affiliate marketing article was worthwhile if you want them to check on your “call to action button:” to your affiliate page. If you just have an article the wastes the reader’s time, they are not going to request further information from you.

5. Make sure you are not too “salesy” in your article. When writing affiliate marketing articles, you don’t want to write a sales-letter. Articles are supposed to be a “soft sell” that nudges them toward a buying decision. Be sure to remove “salesy” language such as “ground-breaking,”breakthrough,” and “cutting edge.” Also remove the pronoun “You” so it looks like it is informing a wide audience—and not a sales letter that speaks directly to a single person.

Writing affiliate marketing articles also gives you a perfect change to get free traffic to you’re website. Why is that? Since you are usually getting a percentage of total sales (around 50% for most information products) it limits how much you can spend on common advertising methods such as pay-per-click and banner advertising. Writing affiliate marketing articles that subtly promote your affiliate product or service can reap huge dividends for your affiliate marketing efforts.
