Most people who are just starting out trying to find a work at home opportunity don’t have a clue how to spot a scam or a legitimate opportunity. There are a lot of scams out there and the ones who run them have gotten sneakier so it can be very hard to spot them. In my opinion, it is absolutely necessary to thoroughly research any wah opportunity before getting involved with it. There are plenty of great opportunities out there, you just need to learn how to spot them.
Here are several things I recommend you look for in a work at home opportunity before you spend any time or money on it:
* Support – Do they just throw you to the wolves or is there plenty of help and support systems available for you? If you are new to working at home then you are going to have a lot of questions and you aren’t going to get far if you don’t have anyone to help you.
* How long they have been in business – Typically the longer they have been around the more likely it is that they are legitimate. This isn’t guaranteed but it does help a lot. Any opportunity that hasn’t been around at least a year is suspect and longer is better. Some people do not agree with this because they think it’s best to get in on the ground floor of an opportunity before it launches. That can be true but it’s also a lot more likely that you will be scammed.
* Free to join – There are plenty of perfectly legitimate business opportunities that have a monthly fee or require payment of some sort. However, a work at home opportunity should be free or at least have a free trial so you can evaluate it before paying.
* Good reputation – Do they have positive reviews? Search on Google to see what other people are saying about them. You can also ask in work at home forums to see what other people say. But remember that every opportunity, no matter how great, will have some negative reviews and people calling it a scam. That’s just the way it is. What you are looking for is if the large majority say it’s good or not.
* Sound too good to be true – If they are claiming that you will earn a lot of money without doing anything or that you will earn some huge amount of money in a very short amount of time, or some other wild claim then steer clear. They are either lying to you or flat out trying to scam you. Yes, it is possible to make a lot of money online but it is not easy and it won’t happen really fast.
* Use good judgment – If something just doesn’t look or sound right then dig a little deeper or simply click away and go find something else. There’s plenty of legitimate work at home opportunities out there so don’t think you have to settle for something that you aren’t sure about.
Alright, that should get you started on the right track. Don’t be so afraid of getting scammed that you don’t even try because working at home is one of the best ways to make a living. Just be careful and don’t fall for over hyped promises. Use the above tips to guide you and you should be fine.
