You all know the drill, you sit down to get some work done and within minutes your engrossed in non-business emails or checking the previous days website traffic stats. Next thing you know, an hour has passed and the kids are up. You’ve gotten little to nothing done and now there are diapers to change, sippy cups to fill, and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches to make.

Getting your work done on a daily basis means staying focused. How do you stay focused?

Set a work schedule, write it down, and stick to it.
Determine when you can work most efficiently when the kids are in school, napping, or a time of day when they can play well independently. Most likely, it will be a combination of the three. Writing it down and being able to see it and tick off things as you do them gives you a sense of accomplishment. It also helps keep those, ” a few more minutes and I’ll play with you,” from turning into an hour.

Limit email and stats checking.
Check business emails at scheduled times and determine this based on the importance of email to your business. Limit checking personal emails to specific times after your work is done or when you need a mental break from working. Check stats only once per day.

Get caller ID.
Yes, screen your calls. You are working and should not be answering calls you know take up your precious work time un-necessarily. Let friends and family know you schedule and that they should not call during these times.

Working from home can be very challenging. Balancing being a mom, a wife, and a business owner is no easy task. Staying focused and keeping a schedule will help run a more productive and successful business, get more done, and have more free time with the kids, which was the whole point of working from home to begin with, wasn’t it?

Google Adsense - Money Does Grow On Trees

By: Dan Farrell

There are tales of fabulous riches to be made and millions made by those who are just working from home. It seems that Google Adsense have already dominated the internet marketing business and is now considered the easiest way to making money online.

The key to success with Adsense is the placing of ads on pages that are receiving high traffic for high demand keywords. The higher the cost-per-click to the advertiser, the more you will receive per click from your site. Obviously, it does not pay to target low cost-per-click keywords and place them on pages that do not receive hits.

With all the people getting online and clicking away everyday, it is no wonder why Google Adsense has become an instant hit.

For some who are just new to this market, it would be a blow to their pride knowing that their homepage is buried somewhere in the little ads promoting other people’s services. But then, when they get the idea that they are actually earning more money that way, all doubts and skepticism is laid to rest.

There are two major, and clever, factors that some successful webmaster and publishers are learning to blend together in order to make money easier using Adsense.

1. Targeting high traffic pages on your website. If you check on your logs, you will discover that many of your visitors are taking advantage of the free affiliate marketing resources and ebooks that you are offering on your site. In simple words, your ads are working effectively and are generating more clicks. It also means more money for you.

2. Placing Adsense links on pages that are producing little, or better yet, no profit. By placing Adsense on a free resources page, you will reduce the amount of potential customers being lost to other sites. Tricky, but effective nonetheless.

When learned to work effectively, these two factors are actually a good source of producing a minimal amount of revenue from a high traffic page. Many people are using this strategy to pick up some extra and cash with Adsense. This is also especially rewarding to informational sites that focus their efforts on delivering powerful affiliate link free content to their visitors. Now they can gain a monetary return on their services.

With the many techniques that people are now learning on how to make the easiest money by their Adsense, it is not surprising that Google is trying everything to update and polish their Adsense in order to maintain their good image.

The possibility of adding is 2nd tier in Adsense is not impossible. With all the people spending more time in their Adsense now and still more getting into this line of marketing, there is no doubt about the many new improvements yet to be made. Imagine the smiles on the faces of the webmasters and publishers all around the world if ever they sign up for sub-affiliates and double or even triple the amount that they are already earning.

The one particularly handy money-making feature that is available with Adsense now is the ability to filter out up to 200 url’s. These gives webmasters the option to block out low value offers from their pages as well as competitors to their websites. Talk about taking only those that are advantageous and discarding the ones that seem ‘useless ‘.

There is also talk about Google changing or even discontinuing Adsense but it is doubtful. Webmasters generally create higher quality content pages with good themes targeted to the visitor’s interest so their adsense revenue is maximized. Overall, adsense has increased the quality of web page content.

For now, however, Google Adsense is here to stay. As long as there are people wanting to earn some easy cash online just using their talents, the future ahead is looking good. Besides with all the strict guidelines that Google is enforcing over Adsense, it will take awhile for the Adsense privileges to be spammed and even terminated.

Simple Marketing Tips

By:Patty Benton

Marketing is one of the most important pieces of your business plan. Without marketing, people will not be able to find what your business is about and all your wonderful services. So how do you market? What’s the most important thing you can do to market?

1. Set clear marketing goals for yourself.

2. Follow up your marketing. If you send a letter via mail, don’t stop with just one. Marketing experts advise you to send 6-9 pieces of advertisement before “giving up” on the recipient.

3. Decide who you want to market to. Are you a realtor who wants to market to homeowners, reminding them of your services? Are you a VA who works with realtors? What is your target market? Once you decide, focus your marketing efforts on your target market. Forget letting every Joe Brown know about your business. Focus on weeding out those who would best benefit from your services, and spend your marketing dollars on them.

4. If you have an advertising budget, research where you are spending your dollars. Who does that magazine or newsletter reach? Make sure it is your target market. 5. Track your advertising pieces. Give each marketing piece a special code your target market needs to use to redeem your “offered” special. This way you know where each “potential” client heard of you. If you advertise in a newsletter for 6 months, and never get one bite, then you probably don’t want to renew. But if you got 10 new clients, it’s a safe bet that this is a great place to advertise.

6. Follow up. Follow up is a VERY important piece that many of us fall short on. You get a “maybe” or “when I need your services, I’ll call” people. Those are warm leads. They have shown interest, so don’t let them forget you. Set up a drip email campaign and send them information that they would find useful. This keeps you in their mind, without you becoming annoying. Another great thing, pick up the phone every so often and call them up. Show interest in their business, and they will remember you.

These are just a few important things that every business owner needs to remember when creating a marketing plan.

Work or Stay Home Mom Dilemma, Why Not Do Both!

By: Barbara Ryan

Are you a work at home mom? If so, why did you choose to become one? If you want to be a work at home mom, what is your reason?

Why we become work at home moms varies from mom to mom. Some moms want to be home with their kids, but need to generate an income. Some have always wanted to be their own boss or have flexibility in a telecommuting job. While others, like me, want something to call our own and make a little money while doing it.

There are many reasons and thousands of options for moms. The key is to find a work at home job or business that you love and can build and grow. When you love what you do, you cannot help but be successful.

Being able to work from home brings together the two most important factors for moms. Working from home means moms can be home with their kids and not miss the important moments and still be able to contribute to the family finances and focus on a grown up endeavor. Work at home moms can achieve a great sense of pride in themselves by being able to take an idea and turn it into a successful business.

In the past, the choice was go to work outside the home or stay home. There was no in between. Many moms who worked felt they missed out on seeing their children grow up. Moms who chose to stay home, may have felt some regret once their children were grown and they didn’t have the skills necessary to go back to work after being home for so long. Today, this does not have to be the case. Moms can have it both ways by working from home if they so choose. Spending time with their kids and building new skills and a business.

Working from home is a challenge. Finding a balance between taking care of the children, the house, and growing a business is no easy task. It takes a lot of planning and organization, but when you find a system and make it work, it’s the best of both worlds.
